European Football

Today the whole group including Dr. Robertson and Dr. Galdi went to a soccer game at Stadio Artemio Franchi, the football stadium in Florence. Fiorentina was taking on Palermo from Sicily in the last scheduled home game of the season. Unfortunately, it started pouring at halftime, so I spent most of the second half under the covered bleachers.

Despite the weather, the first half was awesome. I really do wish soccer was more of a thing in America. I love the sport. And the fans – over 28,000 at the game today – really get into it. We're talking coordinated cheers and even songs. Also, there are no announcements or commercials during the game as in America. Today, it was nothing but European football.

Florence ended up winning 1 - 0. I heard the crowd roar was we were sprinting back to our condominio in the downpoar.

Also, I can't take credit for the photos below. We were told not bring any DSLR cameras, and given the fact that my phone is out of commission, I coudn't take any photos. I grabbed these from a few of my friends in the program.
