A Morning Run
May 14, 2013 05:00

Before I even begin, I want to make it clear that I did not take the above photo; Ron Reznick did. In fact, I have never even seen anything of the sorts. The sunrise this morning looked more like this – oops, wrong city. No, but honestly, I think it's fair to say that given the spring Florence has had, photos like the one included above are hard to come by this year. But, we can pretend.

At any rate, ever since Adriano took us up to the Piazzale Machelangelo for class, I have wanted to experience the scenic overlook of the city from during sunrise and sunset. So this morning I went on an early run with a couple of friends to catch the potential sunrise at 5:51am.

Running during the early hours of the day, is always a good time. And running in any city is even better. You really get to see things from a different perspective. Florence especially, which is usually bustling with tourists, is really cool in the morning.

I didn't bring my good running shoes to Florence, so running on uneven streets wasn't ideal, but it could have been worse. The sunrise on the other hand, was pretty pathetic. There was a large cloud over the horizon that was blocking any chance of a scenic photo. But it's cool. I didn't bring my camera anyways, so there wouldn't have been anything to share. Hopefully I'll have another chance to catch an early Florence sunrise over the next couple of weeks.
