A Beach Town

We finally got back to Rimini a couple hours later than originally expected. By that time, it was a really nice day. Rimini is a medium-sized city on the north eastern coast of Italy. Apparently the city is known for its night life. Obviously, we weren't there at night, but I could see how the commercialized beaches would be the place to be for young crowds.

While exploring the town, I stumbled across a small temple commemorating a miracle that St. Anthony of Padua performed back in 1227. According to scripture, there was a heretic who was against the Sacrament of the Eucharist. St. Anthony ended up proving that the Body of Christ is present in Holy Communion by a miracle that involved a starving mule and food. (For more information, check out this PDF). I bring this up because St. Anthony was my patron saint for my confirmation. Pretty cool stuff.

While in Rimini, we also got fruit smoothies. I had a smoothie with lemon, pineapple and ginger. Absolutely amazing. Really, you should try it sometime. I definitely plan on making it at some point in the future.

There are various parks and whatnot in the city, but we eventually made our way to its main attraction: the beach. As I alluded to earlier, the beach in Rimini is really commercialized. You can see from the photos that umbrella stands cover every inch of the beach. There is really no room for open play.

But, it was still a great time. It was nice to lay-low for an hour after our action-packed day in San Marino. Believe it or not, my 8 GB memory card filled up shortly after arriving at the beach, but I did manage to take a few photos. To be honest, I have been putting off this weekend because I knew how many pictures I had to go through. Reliving the experience a couple of weeks later really makes me miss Italia.
