Artwork

After lunch, we had a guided tour of the Uffizi Gallery, an impressive museum that features the artwork collected and commission by the Medici family. The Medici family controlled Florence from the late 14th century through the 18th century and were the main reason why Florence plays such a major role in the Renaissance. They fostered art and provided the resources for influential figures such as Leonardo da Vinci.

Unfortunately, we couldn't take photos inside the museum, but I posted a few photos from the sixth floor of the building overlooking the streets of Florence. However, Google's Art Project features a great collection of some of the artwork in the gallery. If you have a chance, feel free to check it out – it's free and open to the public online.
