Mount Vesuvius Vesuvio National Park, Trecase

Mount Vesuvius is a stratovolcano in the Gulf of Naples, Italy, about 9 kilometres east of Naples and a short distance from the shore. It is one of several volcanoes which form the Campanian volcanic arc.

After visiting the city of Pomeii, we hiked up to Mount Vesuvius. And by "hiked", I mean our bus drove us up the majority of the incline, and we had about a twenty minute hike to the peak. Either way, it was really cool. Figuratively and literally. I guess I should have guessed that it would have been a bit chilly 4,200 feet above sea level, but I certainly didn't prepare for it.
